Job Description

As a Millwork Sander/Prepper at Bednark Studio, you will be a member of a highly-collaborative team of artists from diverse backgrounds. You will be expected to contribute to a variety of projects in a Millwork capacity. 

You should have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in sanding cabinetry and furniture in preparation to receive the final finish, patching cracks and surface blemishes with Bondo and/or other patching materials, sanding urethane primers, and patching/seaming/skim coating. 

We are looking for someone who can work efficiently with others and/or independently, and the right candidate will be comfortable both taking initiative and serving in a support role. 

Your Opportunity: 

• Participate in sanding, patching, priming, and preparation of high-quality Millwork finishes, e.g. hardwood, veneer, MDF, metal, plastics, etc.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all Prepping and Finishing tools, including but not limited to: orbital and pneumatic sanders, polishing wheels, downdraft tables, and various other prepping/finishing tools.
• Maintain an open line of communication with the Lead Millwork Finisher and the Finishing Manager regarding assigned tasks, hours, and specific daily duties.
• Travel onsite when needed for touch-up calls or onsite Finishing work
• Maintain a positive attitude and collaborative spirit in a dynamic work environment
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with peers and supervisors
• Work quickly and efficiently with respect for deadlines

Requirements:

• Minimum 3+ years of related Millwork Preparation or Finishing experience
• Proficiency in patching, seaming, & sanding
• Working knowledge of carpentry techniques
• Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines
• Ability to use ladders and meet the rigors of a physically demanding job

*Pay ranges will vary based on experience and skill level [Intermediate $25-30 range, Advanced $30-$35]
