Job Description

Elementary Music Teacher Grades 2-3 (PT/hourly): A minimum of two-year experience, specifically in Elementary Music Education is preferred. Must have an enduring love of youth, love of teaching, and a love of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Candidates should have experience working with elementary age children teaching music, musical concepts, and have a knowledge of vocal pedagogy for young voices. Bachelors Degree in Music Education and experience/certification with the Kodaly method preferred. Candidates must be willing to collaborate with classroom teachers and other music teachers within the department. Candidates should be organized, punctual, and adaptable.

Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor. They should also be willing and able to uphold and serve as ambassadors for the AHS , , and on and off campus. Position available for the 2025-26 school year. Applications are being accepted until position is filled.

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

• • high, warm, consistent energy so that students can tell the teacher loves them and the subject matter
  • broad knowledge and deep intelligence about the subject matter taught so that students become interested in the details and relevance of each subject; students will draw deeply on the teacher as a source of inspiration, wisdom, and relevance
  • strong oral skills, including the ability to present information in an engaging, way with pacing that moves quickly and doesn't drag
  • strong written communication skills
  • strong classroom management skills, including the ability to stay organized and implement routines that are purposeful and effective
  • a habit of communicating with employees and parents in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, helpful, and positive
  • experience in preparing and facilitating daily lesson plans
  • experience in establishing and communicating clear learning objectives to students and parents
  • special education training (in teaching students with specific learning disabilities) is helpful but is not required

In addition to the job requirements listed above, please include in your application any interest you have in helping with our AHS extracurricular athletics programs. Please let us know if you have experience as a player or a coach in specific sports. AHS prefers to fill its extracurricular athletics coaching openings with employees (teachers, aides, etc.) who also have skills and interest in coaching athletics.
