Job Description

Upper Echelon Products (UEP) is seeking a proactive, strategic, and analytical Vice President of Finance to join their team in Austin, TX. This individual will lead the finance function of the organization while working closely with the CEO and other senior leaders of the Company to optimize efficiency, operations, and growth. Key roles and responsibilities will include financial management, including timely month-end close, financial analysis, and forecasting, amongst others. A successful candidate will have strong people skills with the ability and drive to motivate and manage the finance department of three direct reports, while also performing as an operational and cultural leader across the business. This individual will engage in close collaboration across the Company and be expected to operate as a strategic partner to the CEO, while also collaborating and supporting other department leaders through data-driven recommendations and insightful financial analysis.

As the VP of Finance, you will:
  • Lead and oversee all financial reporting to CEO, Board of Directors, and bank to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements and financial regulations.
  • Ability to perform timely monthly close of financials and operate as a strategic partner to the CEO by providing thoughtful analysis and insights to financial performance and trends.
  • Lead annual audit process internally and through coordination with service providers and third parties.
  • Proactively pursue data and financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations to company leadership, including cash management, product profitability analysis, margin analysis for pricing optimization, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts, including the preparation of the annual budget at a granular level.
  • Maintain financial and operational flash reporting, along with financial performance relative to expectations, and contribute towards monthly reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Manage banking and lending relationships with financial institutions and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with product management, marketing, and sourcing teams to evaluate the financial viability of new product initiatives and market entry strategies.
  • Collaborate across business units to provide support and insights to enhance the operations and performance of the business.
  • Support M&A activities through financial, operational, and strategic due diligence and integration planning.
  • Manage ERP and ensure robust financial controls are in place, continuously seeking to improve financial processes and systems.
  • Stay updated on Amazon and eCommerce marketplace trends and financial strategies to optimize company performance in this sector.
To be successful in the role you must possess:
  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in mid-size business accounting, financial statement preparation, and financial planning and analysis, preferably within an eCommerce or products environment.
  • Experience within private equity backed companies and / or operating within a levered environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in leading financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Strong background and knowledge of ERP systems and the ability to operate within business management systems.
  • Self-starter seeking career advancement, driven with long-term goals and a strong work ethic.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
