Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist- Small Animal Acupuncture Clinic (Wantagh, NY)

We are a small veterinary practice with a healthy pace and positive environment specializing in acupuncture and integrative care for geriatric and disabled pets. Our clinic is not like a typical GP hospital- we see fewer patients per day, spend more time with each, and provide individualized, compassionate care.

We have been voted best veterinarian on Long Island multiple years. We get to know our patients and clients and are looking for a reliable, hard-working, friendly assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in veterinary medicine or any veterinary professional who is interested in compassionate care with a mission.

Hours:

• Monday-Wednesday 11:45 am-6:30 pm (required).
• Potential to add Thursday, 9:30 am-4:30 pm in the future.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with restraint of dogs and cats during acupuncture treatments (holding for 15-20 minutes). Only experienced animal handlers (1+ years) will be considered.
• Reception duties: answering phones, scheduling, taking payments, client communication.
• Cleaning and restocking.
• Supporting a positive, caring environment for pets and their families.

• $17-18/hr to start (with raises for reliability and performance).

What we're looking for:

• Reliable and punctual (attendance is critical in a small clinic).
• Willingness to pitch in for whatever role is needed in the clinic.
• Comfortable restraining pets.
• Friendly, professional communication with clients.
• Interest in becoming a veterinarian or in holistic medicine preferred, but not required.
• Only experienced animal handlers (1+ years) will be considered.
