Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for supporting the operations of the Sterile Processing Department of the Monterey Bay Endoscopy Center. This position is in our Central Sterile Processing department and does not require direct patient care. Will partake in all duties/activities of the Scope Reprocessing Department by following policy and procedure for the cleaning and assembly, steam sterilization and maintaining of all patient procedure instrumentation, supplies and equipment. Able to execute duties requiring decontamination, configuring instruments, steam sterilization, and following the entire per manufacturer guidelines to properly disinfect our endoscopes using High-Level Disinfectant and Sterilant. Performance of all duties and responsibilities must be in accordance with the Service Standards of the Monterey Bay Endoscopy Center LLC Listed are most but not all duties, tasks, and responsibilities essential to the job function: Adheres to all Safety and Infection Prevention policy and guidelines for patient, visitors, staff, and self. Maintains a clean and orderly Central Processing area. Professional appearance and behavior must be always maintained. Continues professional self-development by taking part in educational opportunities available through work and own personal advancement. Maintains information using proper EMR or manuals for work activity. Informs the appropriate personal of any inconsistencies or unusual activity. Will contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement activities as requested. Policy and procedures of the Monterey Bay Endoscopy Center LLC and the Sterile Processing Department will be followed and adhered to. Be able to properly run Medivators Advantage Plus Machines. Be able to troubleshoot any issues with our Olympus scopes and processors. Able to work together with peers, focus being a positive team member and to achieve department’s goals. Accurately maintains inventory. Able to use a computer to maintain logs that will show all daily tasks were performed. Must be able to accomplish technical tasks while following all standard procedures and methods used to sterilize, decontaminate, deliver, and allocate supplies and instruments within the applicable Federal, State, and other regulatory agency CMS. Fosters a positive work setting by using good communication skills. Supports training and may be required, to assist in training of new staff. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience: None required but Sterile Processing Experience Preferred. License/Certification: Certified Endoscope Reprocessing Certification (CER) or similar certification. Must be able to stand and walk for 95% of workday. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Must have good hand and eye coordination. Must be able to multitask. Must be able to lead and direct the sterile processing room while manager is away. Must be able to work as a team with Medical Assistants, Nurses, and Doctors.
