Job Description

SMT Machine Operator II

Position:              SMT Machine Operator II
Reports To:          SMT Leader; Production Manager
Status:                  Non-exempt, Full-Time

Position Summary:   The SMT Operator (II) will be responsible for operating both automated and manual surface mount technology (SMT) machinery, ensuring the efficient and high-quality assembly of electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain SMT equipment to ensure production runs smoothly. The SMT Operator (II) will work closely with the production team to meet production goals and adhere to industry standards for quality and safety.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform machine setup, calibration, and operation of automated SMT equipment, including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
  2. Continuously monitor equipment performance and promptly address any mechanical or operational issues.
  3. Read and follow assembly drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
  4. Edit and modify SMT machine programs for new and existing products as necessary.
  5. Identify and properly handle various electronic components, ensuring correct placement and orientation on PCBs.
  6. Perform inspections to verify component integrity and placement accuracy.
  7. Responsibility and authority to:
  • Identify problems.                    
  • Recommend solutions.                           
  • Withhold items that do not meet quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Education/Experience:
  1. High School Diploma.
  2. Experience with Hanwha pick-and-place equipment (preferred, but not required).
  3. Certified IPC 610 and/or J-STD-001 (preferred, but not required). 
  4. Basic understanding of the International Standard.
  5. Minimum (2) two years in an electronic contract-manufacturing environment as a Machine Operator.
  6. Familiar with a variety of the industry concepts, practices and procedures.


Pay Rate: $20-22/hr, depending on skills and experience.
