Job Description
The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.
Summary
The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking to fill the position of Utility Senior Maintenance Technician for the Woodlands Division located in The Woodlands, TX. The Woodlands Division provides water and wastewater utility services to The Woodlands municipal utility districts. The division currently operates and maintains 3 wastewater treatment plants, 31 sewage lift stations, 5 water pumping facilities, 6 elevated storage tanks and 38 ground water wells. Some of the duties include:
Reviews maintenance records and recommends modifications and/or replacement with alternative equipment to ensure effective utilization of the EAM program.
Ensures the effective utilization of the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) that includes various components such as a work order system, inventory control, and procedures for safe performance of maintenance tasks.
Trains, mentors and develops staff to effectively perform job tasks and meet safety guidelines to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the department/division and SJRA.
Performs and troubleshoots electrical installations, mechanical installations, and also welding and fabrication as necessary.
Performs basic, detailed, and advanced preventative and predictive maintenance on system equipment such as pumps, motors, gear boxes, generators, blowers, conveyance equipment, and the associated electrical and control systems as required by equipment specifications and identified best practices.
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to system pipelines by repairing and replacing isolation and check valves and applying repair fittings.
Installs new equipment such as pumps, motors, associated piping systems, and control panels.
Reviews and comments on construction plans and specifications for improvements to systems. Performs inspections and resolves warranty issues concerning existing, new, and rehabilitated facilities and equipment.
Completes all tasks as scheduled and prioritized, including routine and emergency work, to assure minimal impact to operations.
Follows all safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures. Verifies all required Personal Protective Equipment is assigned and available. Reviews incident investigations and takes action to prevent recurrence. Coordinates with Safety Specialist as appropriate.
This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during emergency operations, (2) in preparation for prolonged emergency operations and/ or (3) during recovery from prolonged emergency operations as directed by his/her direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.
