Job Description

Function/Duties of Position:

This position assists with the coordination and management of a research study for caregivers for those with dementia, and a second project that teaches clinicians about dementia.

 

This work will take place at the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center.

 

The RA will manage a large study for caregivers for those with dementia. This includes recruiting, screening, consenting, and managing research participants. The RA will work with the team to identify potential participants, then screen and consent them. The RA will need to organize all aspects of the study, including (but not limited to) scheduling of participants, managing interventionists, collecting and entering data in REDCap and Qualtrics. This RA will be responsible for data management for caregiving projects directed by Dr. Lindauer.

 

Previous human subjects research experience preferable, but not required. Strong interpersonal communication skills a must. Ability to complete complex and detail-oriented duties while working closely with patients, research subjects, families, providers, investigators, study staff and external organizations. Basic data management skills, including REDCap experience, are required. Must have the ability to integrate information from multiple sources. This work requires the use of independent judgement, problem solving skills, and project and time management. Personal transportation for community activities required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience, OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience, OR 4 years of relevant experience, OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills to anticipate and address potential problems; independent judgement, diligent time management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in psychology or similar field
  • Previous human subjects research experience
Additional Details:

Working Conditions:

  • Typical schedule: M-F, occasional nights and weekends for periodic off-site recruitment events which require personal transportation
  • Possible national, local travel
  • Will work combination of remote and onsite (Hatfield Research Center in the OHSU Hospital)
  • Work schedule may vary depending on job/study requirements
  • May have regular exposure to noise and interruptions

Physical demands & Equipment Usage:

  • Use videoconferencing equipment (headphones/camera)
  • Use privacy screen (virtual or actual)
  • Able to sit at a computer without a break for 60 minutes
  • Travel between meeting locations including using the Portland Aeriel Tram
