DHHS SAFE .NET Architect/Consultant
Statement of Work
SAFE is Utah's Child and Family Services Information System. It's built on a modern .NET Core microservices architecture with Angular clients. The SAFE system is hosted in AWS and leverages various AWS offerings within its software stack. Databases include both MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
This position is for a part time IT Architect/Consultant. Hours will vary between about 5-10 hours per week, depending on availability and need.
Responsibilities:
1. Work within agile development methodologies.
2. Document changes using established software development life cycle and project standards.
3. Mentor team members.
4. Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement SAFE code.
5. Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of software, with a focus on the core .NET application.
6. Provide design and architecture recommendations aligned with best practices, scalability needs, and the strategic roadmap.
7. Drive the evolution of the existing system and lay the groundwork for innovative new features.
8. Provide insights into modern architectural patterns, especially within a .NET Core microservices environment.
9. Actively participate in maintaining code quality and integrity through code reviews, offering constructive feedback, and championing coding standards.
10. Identify areas for code optimization and improvement to enhance application performance and maintainability.
11. Design and improve the database infrastructure, making recommendations on database design and improvements for both MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
12. Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders within an iterative framework.
13. Create clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, design specifications, and guidelines.
14. Guide the integration of various AWS services, optimize cloud resource utilization, and ensure cloud infrastructure supports high availability and scalability requirements.
