DIVISION OF CARDIAC SURGERY
PEDIATRIC AND CONGENITAL CARDIAC SURGEON
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking candidates to join the full-time faculty of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the rank of Assistant Professor. This role is comprehensive and requires individuals who are board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery or have completed training in an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery residency or fellowship program. Additional accredited training in Congenital Cardiac Surgery is desirable but not essential. Responsibilities will include establishing a clinical practice in collaboration with a senior congenital cardiac surgeon at the University of Maryland Medical Center, conducting independent clinical or laboratory research, contributing to the growth the Children's Heart Program at the University of Maryland, and educating medical students, residents, and fellows. We are looking for candidates who enjoy team-based care and a collaborative work environment. Experience in pediatric and adult congenital heart surgery, pediatric cardiac transplantation, and pediatric circulatory support and ECMO are required. Recent fellowship graduates are encouraged to apply.

About the Division: The Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine includes 10 clinical faculty providing cardiac surgery services at three locations and is the market leader in cardiac surgical care in the State of Maryland. The Division sponsors a mature, integrated 6-year Cardiothoracic Training program and a Cardiothoracic Fellowship. The Division is home to several NIH-funded surgeon-scientists, has a Clinical Research Unit with over 40 prospectively enrolling clinical trials, and is a site for the NHLBI-sponsored Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network. About The Children's Heart Program has a tradition of clinical excellence in neonatal and infant cardiac surgery and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. The pediatric cardiology, critical care, and anesthesia groups all offer excellent programmatic support for pediatric and adult congenital heart surgery. Salary Range: $568,850 - $712,073
The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the DEPARTMENTAL faculty compensation program or pay from participation in DEPARTMENTAL variable compensation programs. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
