Job Description

Title: Payroll and Human Resources Specialist

Location: Tampa, FL

Worksite Arrangement:  In-office

Schedule: 8am-5pm ET, M-F

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 annually DOE

Start date: ASAP

Overview:

Avenica is currently evaluating talent for a Payroll and Human Resources Specialist with a fast-growing SaaS company in the healthcare sector. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong payroll background and attention to detail to help ensure payroll accuracy, manage compliance across 20+ states, and optimize AP workflows. You'll join a team that is actively building structure and scalability, playing a critical role in establishing internal processes as the company continues to expand.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll across multiple states, ensuring timely and accurate execution aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Own state registration, tax withholding, and unemployment account compliance across jurisdictions
  • Manage accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, entry, and payment
  • Perform reconciliations for bank statements and vendor accounts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR and Operations to support audits, policy development, and process improvements

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in both accounts payable and payroll processing (multi-state exposure preferred)
  • Familiarity with Paycom or similar payroll platforms
  • Proficiency in Excel with the ability to analyze large data sets
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or Sage is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, clear communication, and a proactive mindset
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, Avenica is not able to provide sponsorship at this time
