Sqirl is looking for a 4-5 day a week pastry prep cook. This is a rare position to join our exception pastry team and help the development of our dinner service pastry program.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Pastry Cook is responsible for producing pastry products, fabricating pastry stock, assisting with, and individually creating new pastries as assigned by the Pastry Chef, and working with the team through production.

This will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Communicate all product needs with the Lead Pastry Cook, Pastry Chef, Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef respectively. 
  • Individually, as well as assist, in the development of seasonal desserts for the restaurant, bakery, catering and holiday menus as assigned by the Pastry Chef.
  • Be adept at the production of basic mixtures, recipes and products through complex methods of desserts and pastry production.
  • Prepare properly and consistently such items as creams, icings, mousses, sauces, fillings, doughs-including bread, batters, ice cream and sorbet with little or no supervision.
  • Fabricate or assemble most cakes for special orders and production with some higher finishing work capabilities.
  • Produce a wide variety of pastries, cookies,and cakes.
  • Decorate with chocolate.
  • Prepare all products ensuring optimal quality and visually appealing products. I.e pastries and bread production as relates to the pastry team.
  • Properly store, package and handle all bakery products with regard to maintaining optimal quality.
  • Mark, date and rotate all bakery products according to existing standards.
  • Maintain production and cleaning schedules.
  • Work with all FOH staff to help properly organize, condense and package bakery products prepared for sale.

Bread experience and/or Lamination experience is a PLUS and will result in a higher starting pay.
