CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.  

 

T his is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

 

The Contract Writer is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and finalizing contracts that comply with legal and regulatory standards of the State of Florida while supporting the operational needs of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County. This role requires attention to detail, strong written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts align with organizational objectives. The Contract Writer plays a critical role in maintaining transparency, compliance, and efficiency in the agency's contractual processes.

 

Key Responsibilities :

Drafting and Development:

  • Create, format, and refine contracts, agreements, and templates based on Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, and policies and procedures of the Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Management Services, and Florida Department of Financial Services.
  • Ensure all documents comply with legal, procedural, and regulatory standards.

Review and Editing:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of contracts to identify inconsistencies, errors, or ambiguities.
  • Edit and update existing contracts to align with current standards and organizational needs.

Collaboration and Research:

  • Work with internal stakeholders, including procurement, legal, and program managers, to understand contract requirements.
  • Research relevant legal and regulatory frameworks to incorporate appropriate language and terms.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and manage contract revisions and updates.
  • Maintain a database of templates, finalized contracts, and related documentation for internal use.

Process Improvement:

  • Assist in developing and refining contract drafting procedures and best practices.
  •  Provide recommendations to improve efficiency and compliance in contract creation and management.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field.
  2. Two to four (2–4) years of work experience in contract writing, legal drafting.
  3. A minimum of one (1) year of work experience with government procurement and contracting processes.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
  5. Strong understanding of contract structures, legal terminology, and compliance requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Law or a related field.
  2. 4-6 years of experience in government contract writing, legal drafting.
  3. 3-4 years of work experience with government procurement and contracting processes.
