Graphic Designer (Freelance) LOCAL ONLY Location Hybrid remote in Morton Grove, IL :

Publications International, LTD. (PIL) is one of North America's leading publishers of children's, cookbooks, sports, automotive, inspirational, reference, leisure and travel and stationery items that provides high-quality, high-value products for consumers worldwide since 1967.

This is a contract opportunity for a FREELANCE GRAPHIC DESIGN POSITION within our Children's Division. The contract will be for work that will be a minimum of six (6) weeks, with the potential of extension based on department project schedule.

Major responsibilities:

· Layout and design books in different formats.

· Create mockups of books for the sales department.

· Think creatively to produce new ideas and research new trends.

· Work as a team with creative directors and editors.

· Follow external brand style guidelines and also internal department procedures and style guidelines.

Required Skills / Knowledge

· Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign using a MacOS and Creative Cloud.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong analytic skills.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Extremely detail oriented.

· Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects, as well as work independently.

· Ability to work effectively with in-house personnel and outside freelancers.

· A positive attitude - and willingness to learn.

Educational Background Required:

· BA or BS from an accredited college or art school in Graphic Design.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

  • Morton Grove, IL 60053: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Graphic design: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe Creative Suite: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe Illustrator: 1 year (Preferred)
