Bonjour! Are you a passionate, dynamic, and engaging French educator eager to inspire students in a supportive and vibrant coastal community? Boothbay Region High School (BRHS), part of the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District, is seeking a full-time  French Teacher to join our dedicated faculty for the upcoming academic year.

About the Role:

As our High School French Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our students' understanding of French language and culture. You will have the exciting opportunity to teach a variety of French levels, from introductory courses that spark initial interest to advanced classes that challenge and deepen proficiency. This position calls for a creative and energetic professional who can cultivate a love for language learning, fostering an immersive and interactive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons across various levels of French (e.g., French I, II, III, IV ).
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Integrate authentic cultural materials to provide students with a rich understanding of Francophone cultures.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies to accommodate varied learning styles and promote student success.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their language acquisition journey.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and communicative classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and participating actively.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student learning and well-being.
  • Actively participate in departmental, school-wide, and district professional development initiatives.
  • Potentially contribute to extracurricular activities related to French language or culture (e.g., French Club, cultural events).

What We're Looking For:

  • Certification: Must hold a current  Maine Department of Education World Language - French (610) certification by the commencement of employment. (Or eligibility for certification, with a clear pathway to obtain it by start date).
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching French at the high school level is preferred.
  • Technological Integration: Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with effectively integrating technology into the classroom to enhance language learning (e.g., online resources, interactive tools, multimedia).
  • Qualities:
    • A team-oriented, enthusiastic, and creative professional.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
    • Passion for French language and culture, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
    • Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice.
