Job Overview:

Assumes responsibility for the retrieval and distribution of equipment ensures adequate levels of patient care equipment to meet patient s needs. Assumes responsibility for the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of patient care equipment. Assumes responsibility for the rental of patient care equipment. Assumes responsibility for the tracking and documentation of aspects of management of patient care equipment. Responsible for the transport of bodies to the morgue.

Qualifications:

Required:

• A minimum of one (1) year experience with cleaning and distribution process of medical equipment preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and writing.
• SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL ORIENTATION PROGRAMS REQUIRED.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the nurse with personal needs of the patient such as changing gowns, blankets, cleansing and positioning.
• Assures all equipment is properly checked by the Biomedical Department (i.e. sticker and appropriate date) and acts as a liaison with Biomed regarding product recalls.
• Bipolar Units Check all maintenance inspection labels. Ensures bipolar foot pedals are available. Ensure cord adapter is available for each unit.
• Castle Sterilizers Run cycles Ensures all components are functioning properly Perform preventative maintenance
• Checks all surgical video equipment and associated accessories for proper operation prior to use and after use.
• Coordinates the repair and maintenance of equipment with the appropriate personnel; Biomedical Engineering, Materials Management, Maintenance, etc.
• Demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to the specific product information and the Medical Center s policies and procedures
• Maintains full knowledge of surgical equipment and associated accessories used in the Operating Room.
• Is aware of controls and equipment availability, status and follow up and communicates to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains the appropriate working condition of equipment.
• Neurosurgery Microscope Ensures all components of unit are present. Balance and transport of microscope.
