Job Title: EKG Technician
Location: Edison, NJ 08818
Duration: 26 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift:
- Primary: Mon – Fri (5x8) 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Optional: Opportunity to switch to 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM occasionally
Position Summary: The EKG Technician is responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe patient telemetry monitoring system and promptly report any abnormal responses.
- Admit and discharge patients from the telemetry monitoring system.
- Run rhythm strips from the telemetry system following established protocols.
- Monitor the proper functioning of telemetry systems, including battery life, clarity of rhythms, and transmitter safety.
- Assist with patient care, including lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing or pulling a minimum of 10 lbs., and standing for at least 6 hours daily.
- Identify and address patient-specific needs (e.g., age, cultural background, language barriers, sensory impairments).
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and medical staff to ensure understanding and adherence to care plans.
- Comply with organizational competencies and safety standards.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health-related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in cardiology or a related field.
- Successful completion of a monitor technician course at a hospital facility.
- Proficiency in computer systems.
- Passing score on a recognized arrhythmia exam.
Certification Requirements:
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
- EKG Certification
