Job Description

WestExec Advisors, a boutique strategic advisory firm, is looking for a Director to support the firm’s goal of providing unparalleled geopolitical risk analysis and other advisory services to our clients. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with impeccable judgment, excellent writing and research skills, and strong communication skills. What you’ll do:

  • Independently manage multiple client accounts and projects simultaneously
  • Brief clients and prospective clients and prepare written briefings and decks on issues of relevance
  • Provide daily support to firm leadership and WestExec clients, including by drafting research and analytic papers, slide decks, proposals, strategies, talking points, and other products as needed
  • Simultaneously manage and track multiple large projects, processes, and workflow to ensure client work is delivered on time and to clients’ precise specifications
  • Closely track geopolitical and technology issues key to clients’ interests
  • Participate in firm’s business development process, including by identifying and recruiting potential clients
  • Proactively generate ideas and content, as appropriate, to best support clients, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm, and identify new opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned 

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of consulting, strategic advisory, or government experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of international relations, the U.S. policymaking process, and the intersection of emerging technology and national security
  • Impeccable judgment and discretion
  • Strong ability to self-manage; ability to ask for help when needed and proactively find solutions
  • Ability to read between the lines and anticipate needs of clients and teammates
  • Attention to quality and detail
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to changing needs and priorities
  • A “quick learner” mentality, eager to thrive in a high-tempo environment
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the success of the firm
