Job Description
The essential function of the position within the organization is to plan and manage projects, and provide assistance to judges and staff to facilitate efficient court operations.

This position performs independent, advanced work which requires planning, managing, monitoring, and implementing a variety of court projects and programs. This position serves as the veterans’ court subject matter expert for the OPSC (Office of Problem-Solving Courts). Major responsibilities include directing problem-solving court data collection and analysis efforts, managing the duties and responsibilities of the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) related to the problem-solving court certification process, coordinating training and technical assistance for veterans’ courts, and providing staff support to the Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts.

 

Examples of Work

-Direct problem-solving court data collection and analysis.

-Manage the OSCA duties and responsibilities related to the problem-solving courts certification process.

-Coordinate technical assistance and training initiatives for veterans’ courts.

-Provide staff support to the Steering Committee on Problem-Solving Courts.

-Prepare correspondence and respond to general requests related to problem-solving courts.

 

Education and Training Guidelines
Education: Refers to job specific training and education that is recommended for entry into the position.

Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

 

Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, information technology, business management, public or business administration, social science, or a closely related field.

 

Experience: Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks. 

Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.

 

Five years of related work experience, including two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

 

*A master’s degree in an area cited above may substitute for two years of the experience. 

 

Competencies
-Must have a working knowledge of the Florida State Court System and an expertise in case processing for veterans’ courts and other problem-solving courts.

-Must have knowledge and ability to apply modern research techniques and data analysis to project planning and guide complex analysis.

-Must possess a proficiency in data collection methods, data analysis, and presentation of data results and the ability to illustrate findings in a variety of formats such as charts and graphs.

-Ability to organize, maintain, and update a variety of detailed and complex records.

-Ability to act as a project leader. Must have strong interpersonal and analytical skills.

-Must be able to work independently and with a team. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Special Comments
-Experience working with drug courts is preferred. A general understanding of substance use and mental health disorders and their impact on the justice system.

-Data collection and analysis experience is required.
