How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

REMOTE/HYBRID OPTION

Buyer will process material requests from assigned departments. Requests need to be processed within a 24 hour period. Orders should be examined for correctness and should be consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements as determined by Carilion Clinic. 

 

• Processes material requests from customers. Requests will be reviewed for completeness, best price, timely delivery, and proper approval authority. The placement of orders will be by telephone, faxing, or EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). Detail recording keeping is imperative.
• Maintains and assists in the maintenance of the computerized non-stock inventory items including receipts, purchase orders, general maintenance.
• Maintains the highest moral and ethical standards in the execution of the procurement process.
• Verifies, assists and authorizes invoices where required in connection with the Accounts Payable process.
• Attends in-service education seminars or other appropriate educational opportunities as required by Carilion Clinic. Buyer is required to maintain current up-to-date skills to function with the continuously changing technology.
• Performs other duties as necessary relating to position or as required from the Corporate Contracting & Purchasing Director and Manager of Purchasing.

What We Require:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in business or related field desired.

Experience: Previous Lawson ERP knowledge is desired. Previous purchasing and accounts payable experience preferred. Knowledge of medical supplies either through clinical or business experience preferred.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong working knowledge of purchasing. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop excellent working relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize, meet multiple deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced growing environment. Proficiencies in Windows Explorer w/ creation of file folders, and Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel spreadsheets incorporating formulas and management of large amounts of data.
