Buyer – Contract Role
Detroit, MI – Remote

Between $35-$50 per hour depending on experience

Our well-established automotive manufacturing client has an urgent opening for an experience buyer with Steel purchasing experience.
This is a 3 month contract position with potential to extend. The ideal individual has had experience with tariffs in the past and has a strong understanding of the Steel industry and market. We’re seeking a highly motivated, energetic person who enjoys a fast paced and challenging environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail oriented, and eager to learn. 

The Role:

• Responsible for day-to-day purchasing activities including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and expediting
• Generate purchase orders to replenish approved products ensuring maximum cost effectiveness
• Manage vendor relationships including costing, quality, delivery, and other related metrics to ensure maximum utilization
• Coordinate with the facilities to ensure product quality and delivery
• Negotiate, review and analyze purchase orders and contracts
• Work directly with Supply Chain Leadership on new and innovative ways to navigate tariffs

The Ideal Candidate:

• Post secondary training from an accredited institution or experience in direct buying and sourcing; with preference given to those who have purchased steel in the past
• Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail and problem solving skills, with ability to work independently
• Superior organizational skills and planning skills
• Prior experience and knowledge of Tariffs and their impact on Steel purchasing
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proven experiences with contract negotiations with Steel Mills
• Knowledge and experiences with re-sale and direct buy agreements.
• Experience on resourcing activities and approvals required
• Ability to efficiently multi-task and schedule priorities
• Punctual and hard working
• Ability to work remotely 9 AM – 5:00 PM Mon-Fri
